| 内容記述 | The total number of cans for beverage and provisions which were purchased in a year was over 32 billion in 1990 in Japan, and the recycling rate of the waste cans was estimated about 35%. Accordingly, about 20 billion cans were burned or burried. The number of cans which were purchased has thus increased at rate of about 10% a year since 1990. In order to discourage the use of drink vending machines, there should be a large number of easily recognizable water fountains for public use. We propose a tax or deposit of 1～2 yen a can which would provide for recycling costs. To recycle various waste which could be used as resources, citizens must work together with government and industry. "Unseparated trash is simply waste, whereas separated trash is a resouce." | |||||||||||
