In order to clarify the regional characteristics of acid rain in Chiba Prefecture, the data of precipitation which were obtained during the period from April 2004 to March 2005 with the aid of the environmental monitoring volunteers of the Institute of Environmental Studies of Keiai University have been analyzed. The results of the analyses are summarized as follows: 1) <NO_3>^-/nss-<SO_4>^<2-> ratio (N/S ratio) of the Northern Region in Chiba Prefecture showed The value which fell below preceding fiscal year in all sites in both warm period and cooling season. 2) It began to discharge large SO_2 from fiscal 2000 from the Miyakejima Island volcano. By the effect, pH and N/S ratio keep showing the value which is lower than the average year. Reversely, the fractional acidity [H^+]/([nss-<SO_4>^<2->]+[<NO_3>^-]) showed the high value. However, this situation hardly could be recognized in this fiscal year. 3) The pH distribution and fractional acidity distribution in the warm period show the very good correlation. The relationship between pH and fractional acidity (A) in warm period in Sakura is shown in the following equation. pH=-1.086A+5.032 r=-0.486 |
