In order to clarify the regional characteristics of acid rain in Chiba Prefecture, the data of precipitation which were obtained during the period from April 2003 to March 2004 with the aid of the environmental monitoring volunteers of the Institute of Environmental Studies of Keiai University have been analyzed. The results of the analyses are summarized as follows: 1) NO_3^-/nss-SO_4^<2-> ratio (N/S ratio) of the Northem Region in Chiba Prefecture shows increasing tendency for the west from the region in the Pacific Ocean side in cooling season. 2) As well as the preceding years, the effect of the large SO_2 emission from the Miyakejima volcano also appeared in acid rain in fiscal 2003. 3) The pH distribution and fractional acidity [H^+]/([nss-SO_4^<2->]+[NO_3^-]) distribution show the good correlation. The relationship between pH and fractional acidity (A) in warm period in Sakura is shown in the following equation. pH=-1.102 A+4.868 r=-0.405 And, the relationship between pH and fractional acidity (A) in cooling season is shown in the following equation. pH=-1.272A+5.299 r=-0.574 |
