In order to clarify the regional characteristics of acid rain in Chiba Prefecture, the data of precipitation which were obtained during the period from April 2002 to March 2003 with the aid of the environmental monitoring volunteers of the Institute of Environmental Studies of Keiai University have been analyzed. The results of the analyses are summarized as follows: 1) NO_3/nss-SO_4^<2-> ratio (N/S ratio) of the Northern Region in Chiba Prefecture shows the low tendency in Northern Region, which adjoins Kashima maritime industrial district in both warm period and cooling season. 2) The emission of large SO_2 from the Miyakejima Island volcano continued in fiscal 2002. As well as fiscal 2000 and 2001, in all regions, the acid rain in warm period and cooling season in fiscal 2002 showed low pH and N/S ratio. Reversely, the fraction acidity showed the high value. 3) The pH distribution and fractional acidity[H^+]/([nss-SO_4^<2->]+[NO_3^-]) distribution in the warm period show the very good correlation. The relationship between pH and fractional acidity (A) in warm period in Sakura is shown in the following equation. pH=-2.689 A+5.336 r=-0.629 And, the relationship between pH and fractional acidity (A) in cooling season is shown in the following equation. pH=-0.798A+5.071 r=-0.627 |
