In order to clarify the regional characteristics of acid rain in Chiba Prefecture, the data of precipitation which were obtained during the period from April 1999 to March 2000 with the aid of the environmental monitoring volunteers of the Institute of Environmental Studies of Keiai University have been analyzed. The results of the analyses are summarized as follows : 1) The pH 5.0 or less are observed on the precipitation near Kamisu in the north of Chiba Prefecture in the warm period . The values are also observed on the precipitation over the region from Shisui in the west of the prefecture to Funabashi. In addition to the area, in cooling season similar pH is also observed near Choshi located in the most east side of the Chiba Prefecture. 2) In warm period, NO_3^-/nss-SO_4^<2->, chemical-equivalent-ratio, on the precipitation of the Northern Region in Chiba Prefecture decrease toward the east from the west of the Kujukuri Coast. In the cooling season, however, the ratios tend to decrease toward the north and the west from the southeast of the Coast. In the meantime, the low ratios appear in the region adjacent to Keiyou Industrial Area and Kashima Maritime Industrial District. 3) The pH distribution and the fractional acidity [H^+]/([nss-SO_4^<2->]+[NO_3^-]) distribution on the area investigated are related reasonably with each other in the warm period. The relationship between the pH and the fractional acidity (A) in warm period in Sakura is shown in the following equation. pH=-3.44A+5.73 r=-0.74 On the other hand, the relationship in cooling season is shown in the following equation. pH=-2.23A+5.53 r=-0.79 |
