In order to investigate the quality of city water in Chiba Prefecture, the data of the water quality were collected in June 1996 and June 1997 with aid of the students of Chiba Keiai Junior College, Keiai University and Chiba University. The data are analyzed to make clear the regional characteristics of the city water in terms of the water quality. The results of the analyses are summarized as follows : 1) The electric conductivity, pH, the concentrations of dissolved ions and others of the city water depend on the location of source of the water. 2) The concentration of the constituents of the city water in the area around Inba Lake, are less than those of other areas. The reason for this is that the source of water of this area is located on more upstream portion of Tone River than that of other areas. 3) On the other hand, city water in the ocean-side Kujukuri area contains a high concentrate of these constituents. 4) From these fact, it is considered that the high concentration of these constituents in city water is considerably influenced by sea water. |
