| 内容記述 | In this paper, we examine a Deposit-Refund System from an economic point of view. It is usually considered that if some kind of deposit-refund system is introduced into a market of canned drinks in a community, the community will reduce its consumption of the drinks and increase the recycling of the cans. These explanations are based on the fact that the prices of the drinks rise, and the profit of inhabitants can be increased by recycling. However, if the inhabitants maximize not only their utilities but also their profits (=revenues-costs), they should not reduce their consumption of the drinks, because the total income of the inhabitants will not be changed even after the introduction of a deposit-refund system. In the market of cans of drinks, inhabitants can increase their profits by selling the cans. The conclusion that the consumption of drinks will not be changed after the introduction of a deposit-refund system differs from earlier studies. | |||||||||||
