Meteorological observations were carried out in the period from August to December 1994,in order to make clear the characteristics of mountain winds which develop in the upper and middle course of the Obitsu River. The results of this study are summarized as follows 1) Mountain winds developed twice in August and once in December during the 5-month observation period from August to December, 1994. 2) When mountain winds blew, a thermal belt was formed near Lake Kameyama. 3) Mountain winds, which were observed in August, developed only in the upper course of the Obitsu River. 4) Mountain winds were observed in the upper and middle course of the Obitsu River in December. The winds developed more strongly in the middle course than in the upper course of the river. 5) These mountain winds developed in nights when the temperature gradient in the air layer near the ground in the upper course of the river was 0.8～3.4℃/100m in August, and 1.2～3.1℃/100m in December. |
