内容記述 | Interpreting occupational information from open ended questionnaires is, amongst a series of occupation data, the most difficult task in construction of an expert system for SSM (Social Stratification and Social Mobility) occupation coding. Therefore, it is necessary to build a dictionary so as to enable the system to process the information. For this purpose, I have analyzed about thousand occupation data from the SSM survey done in 1965, and have gained some beneficial results. The gap concerning abstractness between the vocabularies of the answers to the questionnaire and those in "SSM Occupation Classification (revised edition)," which is the source for database systems and knowledge-based systems, is relatively small. Although the former come in wider varieties, they are mostly in "IS-A" or analogical relationship with the latter. When dealing with occupation coding, the point of observation, for example, the headings or vocabularies, varies from one upper classification to another. The same is true for lower classifications. | |||||||||||
